In the tradition of launching higher performance versions of its cars for the domestic Japanese market, Suabru has just announced its latest limited edition performance version of the Impreza WRX STI. Called the WRX STI R205, the R stands for “Road Sport” and positions this model as the top STI in Suby’s lineup.

The limited edition 2010 Subaru Forester X Columbia, which is available in Australia starting Jan. 4, is the result of the collaboration between Subaru and long-time partner outdoor gear company Columbia. Their previous ventures have been in other markets. This version replaces the standard steel wheels for 16-inch alloys.

The Tribeca is not aging well. It's loose and rattly and coarse and rough-riding. The boxer engine has sufficient power but doesn't sound great. The navigation system is positioned too far away from both the driver and the passenger. The interior is cramped for both front-seat and middle-seat passengers, not to mention the extremely cramped third-row seat.

The first month with our nicely loaded Four Seasons Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited was quite pleasant. Winter weather held off through November, and the staff of Automobile Magazine took a liking to the vehicle's extreme comfort and expansive space but registered some complaints about the Subaru's technology interfaces and somewhat floaty suspension.

Here at Automobile Magazine, we adore sports cars, hot coupes, and steroidal sedans. But real life reminds us that such dream cars aren't always suitable when there are family members to be toted, mulch to be moved, rough roads to traverse, and bad weather to battle. That's where the newest member of our Four Seasons fleet - the Subaru Outback 3.6R Premium - comes in.

We were really excited when we started reading Subaru’s latest SEMA press release, as it listed things like a 400-hp WRX STI, the word’s “rally-prepped” and “Ken Block.” That was all well and good, but entirely too normal for a SEMA show car. And that’s what we discovered upon continued reading as we downloaded the solitary photo from Subaru’s media site. Yikes.

In Portland and Seattle, or throughout the coastal or mountain backcountry of the Pacific Northwest, you won't have to look long to find a Subaru Outback. They're every which way you look, in the driveways of everyone from windsurfers to skiers to antiquing empty nesters. And if there's an official car of this region, this is it. With the relative ubiquity of this model, it didn't take long to feel at home behind the wheel of a 2010 Outback.

The Subaru Legacy B4 GT300 is receiving the Super GT treatment with the help of Subaru Tecnica International, i.e. STI. Campaigned by R&D Sport, who previously ran a Vemac 408R, the Subaru Legacy is built for the GT300 class. Super GT racing is made up of two classes, GT300 and GT500, with the former being the lower tier class. The biggest difference between the two classes is horsepower. GT300 is limited to roughly 300hp and GT500 to 500hp.

There was no doubt as to the star of Subaru's stand at Tokyo...this amazing gullwing-doored concept is the Hybrid Tourer, and it's rumoured to point the way to a flagship coupe. The concept uses a 2.0-litre direct injection 'Boxer' engine – mounted under the bonnet and driving the front wheels through a fuel-efficient CVT transmission. Like the Toyota Prius, it gets assistance from a 10kW electric motor when extra power is needed.

At nearly every media brief on new models, for years now, your editors at TheCarConnection.com have become accustomed to asking the weight question. Automakers have had to increase safety features, add standard equipment, and meet higher standards of refinement. And something has to give.

Just days after President Obama proposed new legislation that would see fleet fuel-economy standards rise considerably in the U.S., Subaru has said it will explore the possibility of bringing a hybrid to market in order to reduce it’s fleet average.

According to their ad in the Flower Show guide the Forester is “Your new favorite gardening tool”. Well this SUV is so much more. It’s part wagon part SUV, part nerd, and part hip.

Sadly the Subaru won’t be in this years World Rally Championship. The WRC has been one of the many reasons Subaru enthusiasts purchase a certain products. This does not change the street STi’s today, whether it is replacing a part or modifying your Subaru.
