At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Peugeot will unveil a new concept dubbed SR1, a new two-door hardtop showing a lighter, more elegant look for future Peugeot cars. Although the concept’s front-end is less aggressive than the “big cat” look of current Peugeots. According to the manufacturer the SR1 revisits the great traditions of grand touring cars of the past such as a large bonnet, flowing wings and a very low centre of gravity.

With three body shapes, hatchback, SW and CC, and twelve different power-plant options, the new 207 will further strengthen the 207’s position as Europe’s top selling small car, a position it has held for the last two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008. In the UK the 207 is also a big success with over 167,000 vehicles sold since its introduction in June 2006.

Honestly, we were expecting another victory from the Audi team with their new R15 TDI prototypes but it appears that Peugeot finally found the winning formula with their 908s and obtained a memorable one-two victory at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

Peugeot has just introduced a new high-efficiency version of its small Partner van to go up against Ford's new Transit Connect ecoNetic. Like the Ford, the new Partner is powered by a diesel engine, in this case a 90 hp 1.6-liter four cylinder.

Concepts don’t get any more out-there than this! But according to Peugeot it’s exactly what we’ll all be driving in the ‘worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow’. The three-wheeled vision of future inner-city transport is the winning entry to Peugeot’s annual design competition, and a full-size clay model was on display in Shanghai.

Mooie handige rugzak dus!

Peugeot use the designation `RC` showing where the designers will be in the future. So, this latest auto is falls certainly under this catagory if we consider the actual name - `RC...`. Like Peugeot RC concept autos of 2002 plus the 908 RC from 2 years ago, this RC`s the future for Peugeot. Although the darkness distorts the images, the auto’s sloping roofline and long hood are clearly visible still.

The standard EuroNCAP testing procedure requires a 40mph (64km/h) frontal crash test speed, and performance at that level is the basis for the tested car’s rating. However, Germany’s ADAC testing body wanted to find out what happens if the speed is raised just 10mph (16km/h) to 80km/h (50mph), and did so by testing the Renault Laguna sedan, a top performer in the standard tests. The results are surprising.

Peugeot’s annual competition for up-and-coming designers is underway once again and the field has already been narrowed from around 2,500 contenders to a mere 29 finalists. The theme of the latest competition, now in its fifth year, was for designers to “imagine the Peugeot in the worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow.”

While police agencies in North America have always favored large, high-powered sedans for use as patrol cars, the rest of the world sees things differently. The fact that most of the rest of the world has always had much higher fuel prices has certainly played a part in this. Police officers in Europe seem to get along fine with compact or mid-sized cars like the Opel Vectra and the Peugeot 307. Peugeot's latest entry in the segment is the 308 HDi 90. The 308s are being prepared by Peugeot's Special Vehicle Operation for police duty with light bars, sirens, radios, police markings and other modifications.
