Buy a Lamborghini and be prepared to shell out big bucks... not just for the initial purchase (or the more likely financing arrangement), but for operational costs throughout the lifetime of the vehicle. Even before the warranty runs out, you're looking at big figures for gas, new tires, the inevitable scraped chin spoiler... At least Murcielago buyers have one less upkeep fee to worry about now, as Lamborghini has hammered out a deal with Sirius to provide lifetime subscriptions to its satellite radio service.

Work on Lamborghini’s upcoming Murcielago SV is progressing as planned. The more powerful, lightweight, rear-wheel-drive LP640 is planned for launch later this year.
Insiders have told AutoCar that the SV will have more power than the Reventon and will be should weight 100kg less than the LP640. How much more powerful than the Reventon? Sources say that the Lamborghini Murcielago will have at least 39 more horsepower than the Reventon coming in at 680.
Weight will be reduced by dropping the front differential and driveshafts, the gadgets that raise and lower the rear spoiler, the multimedia system and with the use of carbon fiber body parts and light alloy wheels. Buyers will be able to opt for a smaller wing or a large wing, both made with carbon fiber.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is no more. The last examples of this lightweight model have been built and sent to dealers, so if you're looking to pick one up you'd better run to your local Lambo store.
In its short production run, 172 Superleggeras were sent to the U.S. But what color were they, you ask? Here's the breakdown: 46 were painted orange, 45 yellow, 37 black, 34 gray, and 10 white.
But don't despair; Lamborghini recently announced a heavily revised Gallardo, the LP560-4. The new model boasts 560 metric hp (552 hp to us) and continues to offer all-wheel drive.

We all know that Ferrucio Lamborghini was a flamboyant character, that he began the now famous brand after deep dissatisfaction in dealing with Enzo and his Ferraris. So it appears the thousands of Lambo owners are similar in character. Why the Superleggera, now stopped production, sold the most in the brightest colors of orange and yellow. The US examples we are talking about, 172 of them, were split into 46 orange, 45 yellow, 37 black, 34 grey and 10 white. One or three dealers may still have stock of the Superleggera, but don’t count on it as demand was sufficiently high right from the beginning. Your best bet then would be the used car market where its value will still be substantial.
When the suits of Lambo announced the LP560-4 claps were heard to come from all and sundry, thanks to the new car’s very arresting bold looks and that V10 lump of power producing some 412kW. Its takes the car 3.7 seconds to reach 100km/h from zero and it goes on until the end, which is at 325km/h.

Continuing its commitment to launch a new model at every major European motor show for the forseeable future, Lamborghini took the wraps of a fresh version of the Gallardo.
Badged the LP560-4, at its heart is a new 5.2-liter V-10 gasoline engine, delivering 552 hp at 8000 rpm. That's an increase of around 40 hp over the outgoing Gallardo. Total body weight is down to 3109 pounds, which is 44 pounds lighter than the old model.
The two-seater will accelerate to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 201 mph. Fuel economy is around 8 mpg, but despite the power hike CO2 emissions are down by 18 percent.
Lamborghini also says the LP560-4 has improved traction, handling and high-speed stability over its predecessor. The suspension is new, the all-wheel drive system has been redesigned and the aerodynamics package improved, in part because of a new rear defuser. Gear changes, controlled by robotized paddles on the steering wheel, are now 40 percent quicker.

The wait is finally over; Lamborghini has released the official details on its much anticipated Gallardo LP560-4, and yes that 560 stands for 560PS (which is equal to 552 horsepower).
Successor to the most successful Lamborghini model of all time, the LP560-4 is powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine that produces 552 horsepower, an increase of 40 horses over the previous Galladro. The new Lambo sprints from 0-62 in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 201mph. Even with the considerable power increase, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 18 per cent. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 with E-gear gets an average fuel-economy of 17mpg, with a manual transmission fuel-economy falls to 16mpg.
Allowing the LP560-4 to take curves even more aggressively, aerodynamic efficiency has been improves by 31 percent over its predecessor. The automated E-gear transmission has been completely redesigned and improved. Not only is the system lighter compared to the older version, but gear change time has been reduced by 40 percent.

Lamborghini has announced that it will debut its new Gallardo LP560-4 at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show next week. The entry-level Lambo, which had been previously reported as the LP550, will replace the standard Gallardo as the base model in the Sant' Agata lineup.
Just as with the Gallardo LP560-4's big brother, the Murcielago LP640, the numeric name designates the car's horsepower rating -- in this case 560 PS (or 552 in U.S.-standard SAE rating). If you're wondering about the "4" tacked on at the end, that refers to the Lambo's permanent all-wheel drive system. Gallardo variants are nothing new (the SE, Nero, and Superleggera versions coming to mind), but the LP560 promises to be the most powerful Gallardo yet, and by using it to replace the base model, we're guessing there'll be room on the horizon for a new, more powerful lightweight version by year's end.

If you're a die-hard fan of Italian supercars, you've probably already depleted your drool reserves on the spy shots of Lamborghini's new Gallardo LP550 we brought you earlier. Well, start salivating again, because Italian magazine Quattroruote has spilled the beans.
The images in the magazine seem pretty spot-on, and substantiate our earlier report based on the spy shots: a more pronounced front air dam, a revised rear grille and quad tailpipes. This is just an appetizer – you can count on a whole mess of photos when Lamborghini pulls back the veil on its latest Raging Bull.

The Lamborghini Gallardo has been around in its current guise without any major facelifts since its launch in 2003. The car still looks dramatic and modern and has aged well, but parent company Audi has been feverishly working away at the Gallardo’s V10 and in various forms has been implanting it into its A8 and A6 models with resounding success. Could a revised V10 find its way into the heart of Gallardo for Geneva?
The Superleggera edition brought with it lower weight and a tweaked 5.0 L V10 that produced around 522bhp but this was more of a special edition rather than a thoroughly re-worked model. We understand that Lamborghini may be preparing a LP550 version of the Gallardo which would use a 5.2 L FSI version of the V10 to produce somewhere in the region of, you guessed it, 550bhp, up on the standard car’s 520bhp. It would back this up with an improved torque figure of 530Nm verses the standard car’s 510Nm.
