Just a few years ago, Ford had so many luxury brands in its then considerable suite of marques that there were upscale offerings for just about any taste in every region of the world. Aston Martin, Land Rover and Jaguar are now in the hands of other owners and Volvo is on the outs, so how will Ford deliver luxury goods to other regions of the world? How about Lincoln.

Ford hasn't offered a V6 option in the F-150 since its best-selling truck was redesigned for the 2009 model year, but a report from our friend Mike Levine over at Pickuptrucks.com says that's about to change. Levine cites sources at the Blue Oval who say the same Ti-VCT 3.7-liter V6 (shown at right) that will power the 2011 Mustang and Lincoln MKX will also be found under the hood of the F-150 by the end of the year.

Ford chose Detroit for the worldwide debut of the 2012 Ford Focus, at least in part, to show us that this time the North American version is no afterthought. Yes, after Ford says that the new Focus “takes kinetic design to a new level,” with a sportier design and more athletic stance, and it showcases “the new global DNA” of Ford small cars.

The upcoming 2011 Ford Focus will get a tiny 1.2-liter EcoBoost engine, but not until several years into its production and probably not in North America. According to a report by Motor Trend, two new EcoBoost engines are planned by Ford, with the other being a 0.9-liter 3-cylinder engine which will make its way into the Fiesta.

It's official: The Ford Mustang outsold the Chevrolet Camaro in 2009, despite the Bowtie Brand's contender putting together a string of month-on-month sales leads over the Blue Oval's pony car. But it was a close race. According to sales data released by both Ford and General Motors, the Mustang sold 66,623 units in 2009, with GM coming in close behind at 61,618 Camaros sold for the year.

Manual transmissions have a wonderful way of spicing up what would otherwise be a mundane driving experience. The Mazda-sourced six-speed manual does just that for the four-cylinder Fusion, making this model the most entertaining of the many variants we've driven. Throw the car into second gear at 30 mph, and its no-drama 2.5-liter four-cylinder howls pleasantly and reminds you that it's the same peppy..

Ford’s popular Escape crossover is set to be replaced in 2012 with the European Kuga. Recent reports suggest, however, that this new model may keep the Escape badge. According to Ward’s Auto, several Ford dealers have commented that it would be a waste to do away with the Escape badge as it has excellent recognition in the market and as the Escape is one of Ford’s top sellers and has even given the Toyota RAV-4 a run for its money.

The idea of building a vehicle to compete with the Toyota FT-86 is “interesting,” but not necessarily the direction Ford has in mind when it comes to the future of small sporty cars. This is according to Ford marketing boss Jim Farley, who’s brain we had a chance to pick a few weeks back during a preview of the all new 2011 Focus.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta has garnered loads of attention in recent months. It's been popular with drivers and journalists, and it's been the subject of a highly successful marketing campaign. Now there's yet another reason to look forward to the Fiesta's U.S. release: it will be the first American Ford vehicle to offer a three-blink signal for lane changes.

Although 2009 will go down in history as the year of the green car, it seems that the Detroit Three have been pumping out large displacement motors and upping the horsepower faster than you can say "Proud to be 'Merican!" In recent years, muscle cars have come back in a big way and with every passing model year, they become more competitive. With companies upping the ante, each automaker has revolutionized their legendary nameplates.

It's fitting that Ford's first European offering to swim over this way will bring with it another feature that The Continent can take credit for: tap-for-three-blinks turn signal operation. It will appear on the Fiesta this summer, and then migrate to other vehicles in the 2011 line-up, starting with the Super Duty series. The three-blink feature is not as polarizing as the placement of paddle shifters, but people are known to have their opinions.

So the all-new Mustang five-point-oh is revealed in its full glory! Using a new and sophisticated V8 engine, this car brings back the “5.0″ badge which means a lot to ‘Stang fans. And of course it won’t disappoint them when it comes to action, as it’s got 412 hp and 390 pound-feet of torque. And it’s efficient as well, sort of.

The stand-out vehicle for Ford recently has been the 2010 Fusion, and the hybrid version is helping Ford sell more hybrids than it ever has before. This year, through November, the Blue Oval has sold 31,000 hybrids, beating the previous high water mark set in 2007. This is great, but even in this down year, Ford sold over 1.4 million vehicles so far, making the hybrid portion decidedly tiny (about 2.1 percent).

Will the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt and Ford Fiesta really compete with each other? Maybe not the two cars, but the underlying vehicle architectures will compete, and Greentech Media talked to Ford's chief engineer for global hybrid core engineering, Sherif Marakby, who said that his company's later, cheaper, smaller strategy will beat the competition.
