This fall, GM is adding its 2-Mode hybrid drivetrain to the Cadillac Escalade in an attempt to actually make some money off the system. Those of you who thought the existing Tahoe and Yukon hybrids were too rich for the average Joe, with prices starting at $50,000, you might want skip right past the Escalade, which is expected to be priced in the mid-70s.

While Cadillac released information on the freshened XLR roadster last week, all we had to look at was a single photo. Well, now we can see the rest of it. XLR.net has gotten hold of several more shots of the halo Caddy in both the standard Platinum trim and in rodded-up V-Series form (above). We were most curious to see the updated interior, but one look is all it takes to see that it's fundamentally unchanged. The gauges simply trade their rounder, Bulgari-designed numerals for a look that's in keeping with what you'll find in other Caddys.

Chevrolet announced the official power rating for the 2009 Corvette ZR1 this week at 638-hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. That’s 18-hp and 9 lb-ft over the original specs released at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.
Now what’s interesting is the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V shares major components with the ZR-1 such as the supercharged 6.3 liter small-block V8, except with a smaller Eaton compressor. The CTS-V is even known as Caddy’s ZR1 sedan.

Cano Ozgener. It may be just a name amongst a list of little newborn babies in a hospital, or Wall Street bankers, or movie credits. Not a chance this time. Ozgener is founder of CAO International, a company in the cigar business. He is now the proud owner of the world’s first Cadillac CTS-V. He will be sending a clean new check for $75,000 bound for the Prostate Cancer Foundation, who are the beneficiaries of the auction at which he bought the car. The auction featured in “A Night to Remember,” a glittering evening of fine food, wine and cigars, now in its 17th year, hosted by Cigar Aficionado magazine and sponsored in part by Cadillac.
“Cadillac is proud of our longtime association with this great event on behalf of prostate cancer research and treatment,” said Cadillac general manager Jim Taylor. “We congratulate Mr. Ozgener, both for making a generous bid benefiting a great charity, and for joining a very elite club of new CTS-V owners.”

We already know that GM will be putting the show-stopper CT Coupe Concept into production in 2009 as a 2010 model year. The production model won’t be too far off from the concept we saw in Detroit, but will be a little toned down to meet production standards. Basically on the production model, all the metal ahead of the A-pillar will be identical to the CTS sedan.
Engine spec wise, we were told that the Cadillac CT Coupe Concept was designed to accommodate a range of engines including Cadillac’s popular 3.6L Direct Injection V6 and the new 2.9L turbo-diesel currently in development. The car is currently under development under the code-name GMX226 and will be rolling down the assembly line at GM’s Lansing Grand River plant in 2009.
Well now new speculation on the street is that Cadillac is looking to fit the 500 550 horsepower producing 6.2L LSA supercharged V8 engine from the new CTS-V into the production coupe as well.

At next month’s Geneva Motor Show Cadillac will be showcasing its new Escalade Hybrid SUV but that’s just the start of the carmaker’s hybrid plans for Europe according to new reports. Following its Geneva reveal, Cadillac is expected to make a decision about launching the hybrid model in Europe but will wait and see how popular the car is following its U.S. launch his summer.
One thing’s for certain. European buyers aren’t as fond of hybrid as their North American counterparts and the Cadillac brand itself is still considered new in most parts of Europe, which means customers will be wary of adopting the new model, reports AutoTelegraaf. The vehicle features GM’s new two-mode hybrid system and combines an electric motor with a 6.2L V8 engine, saving about 25% more fuel than the regular model.

The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will hit the roads in the fourth-quarter of 2008, giving the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG a run for their money with its 550 horsepower engine. According to an article in the new Road & Track issue, the Cadillac CTS-V shares major components with the new Chevrolet ZR-1 such as the supercharged 6.3 liter small-block V8, except with a smaller Eaton compressor.
Other elements that the ZR-1 and the CTS-V share are the 6-piston Brembo front brake calipers with 4-pistons in the rear. Both get GM’s new Magnetic Selective Ride Control technology which helps the rear axle remain planted during acceleration and helps suppress axle movement when cornering on broken or uneven pavement.

Shanghai General Motors Co. Ltd. (Shanghai GM) is a 50-50 joint venture formed by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC) and General Motors (GM) in 1997 and has been a successful passenger carmaker since its establishment. Now it seems that Shanghai GM is taking its overseas business a step further this year by exporting its Cadillac SLS to Middle East countries. The move would make Shanghai GM the first joint venture luxury car exporter from the Middle Kingdom. The carmaker has exported over 20,000 Chevrolet Lovas and Buick GL-10s, and sold 4,380 SLSs last year.

Afla Romeo will be coming back to the North American market in 2009 with the 8C Competizione. Until that relaunch is complete, select Maserati dealerships will start selling the 100 units of the 8C Competizione that are headed to our highways.
But when Alfa launches its other models, it will be looking to GM to use Cadillac’s Sigma platform for its new cars.
Word on the street is that Alfa is looking to move most of its models to a rear-wheel-drive platform including the Alpha Spider, the Brera Coupe, the 159 and the upcoming 169.

Cadillac's award-winning CTS sedan will likely get a coupe companion in mid-2008, and the two-door version of the luxury four-door has been previewed at the 2008 Detroit auto show in the form of the CT Coupe Concept.
The CT is the latest iteration of the Cadillac "Art & Science" design theme, but Cadillac says this rendition is distinctly new, with all the sheetmetal from the front pillars back being new. While it shares the CTS' wheelbase, the CT Coupe Concept is about four inches shorter than the sedan, and has a faster (more sloped) windshield than does the sedan.
