At a media conference on press day at the Beijing Motor Show Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. , officially declared Bugatti’s entry into the Chines market. „We are delighted to be here“, said Dr. Paefgen. „It is a historic moment for the legendary Bugatti brand: it is the first time that Bugatti presents a car in mainland China.“

Bugatti Veyron Targa Scheduled for 2009

Posted on Apr 15 2008 4:18 AM by adnana

Today a small tidbit of news came through the proverbial grapevines that a Volkswagen source has confirmed to Automotive News that Bugatti is indeed working on a Veyron Targa. Bugatti spokes person Georges Keller confirmed that his company is working on a 'convertible'.

Bugatti is forced to make it a targa (detachable roof) rather than a convertible (folding roof) because there is no storage space for the roof in the car. The Veyron Spider will have an emergency cloth cover to protect the interior just in case. A former Bugatti executive said, “because there was no other solution which could fit with its safety cage."

Rumours about a Bugatti Veyron targa have been circulating ever since the 1.3 million Euro Veyron was unveiled. Bugatti has repeatedly stated that they will not build more than 300 Veyrons, of which 220 have been spoken for already. How many Veyrons will go topless is unknown, but 80 would be the maximum.

Bugatti increases Veyron production rate

Posted on Mar 31 2008 9:13 AM by adnana

The Bugatti Veyron does everything with effortless speed. Except, that is, for production, the rate of which is painstakingly slow. So slow, in fact, that the crown jewel in the Volkswagen empire is having trouble meeting demand. Since the hyper-exotic supercar's debut in 2005, Bugatti has steadily had to ramp up production, which started at 50 and is (in true Veyron style) rapidly approaching twice that. Arriving at the same crossroads yet again, the company has announced that it will once more increase output from its Molsheim, France, workshop.

Customers with $1.5 million in hand and a spot on the waiting list should not, however, worry about quality issues commonly associated with rushing production. In order to increase production from 85 to 90 this year, Bugatti is considering shortening the break the factory has traditionally taken in the summer from three weeks down to one, thereby increasing productivity without rushing the job. Nor will the increased production mean more Veyrons produced: the final number will remain 300, of which 220 have already been ordered and 135 produced and delivered to date.

2009 Bugatti Veyron Fbr Preview

For some folks, two is too many -- even when it comes to the relatively mass market world of automobiles.

Indeed, exclusivity is, as much as anything, the appeal of a car like the Bugatti Veyron 16/4. Yet even at more than a million Euros, a buyer might actually suffer the indignity of seeing another one of the 1000-horsepower supercars show up at the club. What's a billionaire to do?

Cough up a bit more - for a cool 1.55 million of those increasingly valuable Euros - and get the even more exclusive Bugatti Veyron Fbr. It's a joint effort of Bugatti, a subsidiary of the big Volkswagen AG, and the French luxury company, Hermes.

If it seems like an odd pairing, it turns out Ettore Bugatti and Emil Hermes first worked together almost 100 years ago, when the French automaker turned to the saddle specialist to produce a custom-stitched trunk for the first Buggati Royale. Over the years, they worked together on a number of projects, though this is the first time the two brands have come back together since VW acquired and revived the French supercar marque, ten years ago.

Bugatti Type 12-2 Streamliner design concept adds extra set of seats

Posted on Mar 15 2008 7:00 AM by adnana

A few months ago, an amateur designer penned today's vision of a Bugatti Royale. It was all good at the front, and then things got a bit, well, funky at the rear. Now another car designing buff with a suite of software has created his idea of a 4-seat Bugatti GT: the decidedly gorgeous Streamliner 12-2.

Maltese designer Reuben Zammit designed the Streamliner as a 2+2 with "ample luggage space." Though we're sure if Bugatti ever created such a car it would be decidedly more expensive than the Ferrari 612, cues from Maranello's uber-GT can be seen in the Streamliner. But the nothing-but-curves approach gives it a Bugatti retro flair all its own. The car would use a twin-turbocharged version of the W12 engine and be powered by the rear wheels only. That would give the Streamliner rather un-Bugatti-like handling, which we think is even more reason to buy one. Check out additional renderings of the Streamliner 12-2 in the hi-res gallery below and let the designer know if you like his work in the comments.

Bugatti Veyron sales reach 220

Congratulations, and a toast with a pair of champagne glasses, to Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. for selling 220 of their ultra-exotic Veyron 16.4 models. With 132 examples sitting safely in customer garages worldwide (except for this one...doh!), and 88 more on firm order, Bugatti is moving closer to the end of its reported 300-car production run.

We told you last year that demand has been strong for the 16-cylinder quad-turbo model. With deposits on the $1.4 million cars quickly pushing the waiting list to over a year, Bugatti increased production last July to bring the wait to under twelve months. Simply being otherworldly drivers isn't necessarily enough, either. With customers showing more interest in "special" cars, the factory is authorizing an "individualisation programme" to meet those requests. These days, if the "standard" Bugatti just doesn't do it for you, there is always the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang with its polished aluminum body and unpainted carbon fiber. Not plush enough? Then try the opulent Bugatti Veyron Fbg Hermes for some exclusivity.

Bugatti Pur Sang for sale

Ah, the Bugatti Veyron. It's astonishingly powerful, sexy as hell, and only 300 will ever be made. Among the 300 Veyrons, the five rarest and most coveted models carry the Pur Sang moniker. It's stunning paint-free aluminum and carbon fiber body are bold enough to make even the wealthiest Dubai oil baron blush. There were likely many filthy rich people who missed out on the chance to bag a Pur Sang, as all five models were snapped up inside 24 hours. If you lost out the first time and had to settle for a Reventon or four Ferraris, we have good news. One Pur Sang is back on the market, but it's going to cost one of the world's wealthy almost twice as much as it did less than six months ago.

Bugatti Drops Project Lydia

Posted on Feb 15 2008 6:21 AM by adnana

Just over a month ago we reported that Bugatti was developing a faster and more powerful model codenamed “Project Lydia”, and in the past month various artist renderings were going around the net subsequently. Contradictory to those rumours Motor Trend reported yesterday that this pricey project has been called off by Bugatti's parent company VW. Apparently the execs there assert that this uber-Veyron track car is uncalled-for; and their focus now has shifted to a four-door coupe instead.

This car will come with the same Veyron’s 8-liter engine, except that it will be front-mounted. In terms of performance, it won’t be a match for the super-fast Veyron, but the Molsheim-based automaker has plans to make it the most powerful four-door coupe on the market, challenging other contenders such as the speculated Porsche Panamera Turbo, Mercedes CLS AMG series and Audi RS7.

Bugatti Teams Up with Hermes for Geneva Debut

Posted on Feb 11 2008 2:14 PM by adnana

Bugatti will be using the Geneva Auto Show to introduce what appears to be a new special edition for the Veyron. Teaming up with Parisian-based saddle maker, Hermès, the new Bugatti brings back to life the special relationship between Emile Hermès and Ettore Bugatti of the 1920’s. Using this information it seems likely that the new edition will feature a unique interior crafted by Hermès, while the exterior would be limited to minor cosmetic changes if any.

Recent reports have suggested that Bugatti is building a more exclusive high performance Veyron and a new Royal. Either could be the new model debuting in Geneva but that seems unlikely, so stay tuned for more details. Bugatti’s last special edition Veyron, the Pur Sang, sold out in days.

Bugatti to Build a More Exclusive Car

Posted on Feb 02 2008 6:50 AM by adnana

Bugatti Veyron 16.4; fastest, quickest, most powerful. It was an expensive brief, but the company met it, albeit at extremely high costs. So high in fact that the scheduled 300 (only 125 have been delivered so far) profit-bleeders to be built will never return any money to parent company Volkswagen. But resilient VW is about to do it again!

Bugatti media communications manager Julius Kruta told Emirates Business that Veyron is not the end of the story, even though it so nearly became the end of VW itself.

“Even though it is not economically viable for us, we will do it again,” said Kruta, “we have bigger plans for the future and the next one from our stables will be even more expensive than the Veyron.” US luxury car company Dimora may have a word or two about this with their planned USD 2 million Natalia.

All red Bugatti Veyron for sale

We’re sure most of you would agree the Bugatti Veyron doesn’t need a reason to be featured on this site so we hope you enjoy these images of one all dressed out in red. Bugatti calls the color Italian red but we think Ferrari red would be a more appropriate title. This particular model is in fact for sale and features a black leather interior highlighted with contrasting silver stitching.

Faster, More Powerful Bugatti In The Works?

A development project under the guise of "Project Lydia" might sound all very inconspicuous, but with Bugatti at the helm, this ain't no picnic. According to German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, Bugatti have finalised plans to develop a new supercar set to rival if only its own model for sheer speed, but they as yet remain just that; plans...

Bugatti’s Veyron is one car that definitely needs no introduction. Simply looking at it standing still is enough to let you know that this thing could probably decimate everything else on the road. Think your Ferrari or Lamborghini is just as good? Think again...
