Seductive lines, retractable aluminum hardtop roof, race-bred reflexes, and V-8 or V-12 engines are only a few elements that define the 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL models. For '07, the SL is available in 4-editions: SL550, SL55 AMG, SL600 Roadster and SL65 AMG. Speaking of the SL65 AMG, it’s equipped with a 604 horsepower, twin-turbocharged V-12 that delivers an astonishing 738 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Depending on the SL model, standard features include 18- or 19-inch wheels, and either a 5-or 7-speed automatic gearbox. Inside the premium 2-seat convertible cockpit is hand-fitted Nappa leather upholstery; exotic wood trims, and available steering wheel gearshift paddles. The SL-Class with optional Panorama roof has a more rakish roofline when seen from outside. Within, occupants have an expansive overhead view through a panel of heat-reflecting safety glass 5 mm thick, with a mesh inner sunshade that is easy to deploy.
