Redesigned for the 2006 model year, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class receives a new addition for 2007. Larger than past generation the ’07 S-Class rear-wheel drive sedan retains the status of being the flagship in the Mercedes model lineup. New for 2007 is the availability of the S-Class 4Matic, combining the luxury of the S-Class sedans with the traction of 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive. As a full-time system, the 4Matic differential splits power between the front and rear wheels in a fixed ratio 45 to 55 percent. It is available on the diesel-powered S 320 CDI and V-8 motivated S 450 and S 500. Other power plants are the 382-horsepower V-8 in the S550, and V-12s for the S600 and S65 with 510 and 604 horses, respectively. Depending on model, a 5-speed or 7-speed automatic transmission is standard, and while driving the S-Class suspension automatically adjusts for load leveling and firmness. Interiors offers incredible luxury and spaciousness for 5-passengers, plus a luggage compartment that can hold a respectable 19.8 cubic feet of cargo.
