Seemingly nothing known to mankind can dethrone the Ford F-150 pickup as America’s best selling full-sized truck. It has held down that honor for 29 years and has been the best selling vehicle line in the country for many of them. The challenge of new designs from its competitors for 2007 will be the latest test. Ford’s formula for success is to offer a wide variety of models, body styles, options and capability to please everyone from work truck operator to luxury cruiser owner. Frequent upgrades keep the F-150 fresh, which for 2007 include a new grille on XLT and Lariat models, an available DVD-based navigation radio with in-dash screen, available SIRIUS satellite radio, a deluxe mirror package with a self-dimming driver side mirror, a new FX2 Sport Package for the 4x2 SuperCab and SuperCrew XLT, available flexible fuel capable 5.4-liter V-8 and a boost from 231 to 248 horsepower for the 4.6-liter V-8.
Payload is now a best in class 3,050 and towing capacity jumps to 10,500 pounds. There are also new factory-installed accessories like slip-on exhaust tips and chrome bug shield. Visitors to the 2007 Chicago Auto Show will likely find even more new items that will enhance the F-150.
